Like Koopa like Gus

Today little Gus had a minor surgery. Last week, when Gus and Koopa went in for their annual major dental clean, the vet found a tumor behind some of Gus's teeth. What happened was, one of his teeth didn't grow in right, and it started to grow behind a tooth three teeth over. Well, no one caught it and it grew into a tumor. The vet had to extract 7 teeth plus the tumor today. It hadn't shown up on the x-ray how big the tumor was, but when she was doing the surgery she had to keep removing more teeth. I guess the tumor had grown and was under/behind all his front bottom teeth. So now Gus's tongue hangs out of his mouth like Koopa's does. Now the difference between what happened with Koopa from Gus is, Koopa has issues and tried to bite his way out of a metal crate. He gnawed his front bottom teeth down to below the gums. So we had to get the nubs out of his gums. Since then, neither dog has been in a crate. They are really good dogs, and we can leave them to just chill in the house and they won't have any accidents. Luckily, even though Gus had to get all those teeth removed, it really won't impact him in any way. He eats with his back teeth. We just have to soften his food for him for about two weeks and then he will be good to go. I think Gus was just jealous of Koopa's awesome tongue and wanted to show off his tongue as well.

Katie has like no teeth! She has 14 teeth which might seem like a lot but dogs have like 32 teeth. We feel for Gus Gus! Give him lots of kisses!
